MELANIE GRANT – WRITER, STYLIST & ART DIRECTOR

 

Melanie Grant has been a journalist for over 20 years having worked at The Times, The Financial Times, The Independent, The Guardian, The BBC and now The Economist where she writes, edits, styles and art directs luxury content for 1843 Magazine, the lifestyle sister publication. She also owned and ran her own creative agency for nearly a decade giving her valuable experience on the commercial side of luxury but it was at The Economist in 2013 that she discovered her passion for writing.

Since then she has become the authority on jewellery as art and commodity, giving talks at The Science Museum, LAPADA, BAFTA, PAD, The Sarabande Foundation, Masterpiece and Phillips. She recently became a Humanities Scholar at Harvard. In her spare time she writes for Vanity Fair and CNN and she sits on the board of The Mayor’s Fund for London, a children’s charity dedicated to social mobility. She has just finished her first book on jewellery, art and economics after three years of research which is due for release on 1st October 2020 and published by Phaidon.
