Curating

In June 2022 TEFAF Maastricht, the world’s leading art, antiques and design fair invited me to select my top picks from their world-class array of jewelry exhibitors.  I chose to feature Hemmerle, Bhagat, Otto Jakob, Anna Hu, Ala Vieille Russie, Daniel Brush via Symbolic & Chase, Boghossian and Van Cleef & Arpels.  TEFAF has a reputation for academic excellence where museum curators, private collectors and art critics mass on the preview days before the fair opens to the public, to acquire some of the best art in the world.

This year there were 242 dealers from 20 countries, all hand-picked by a rigorous selection of committees.  The art was astounding and I was honoured to offer my recommendations which included pieces seen from Hemmerle’s ‘Infused Jewels’ collection which debuted at the fair.  Shot my TEFAF’s in-house film team, a reel was released of my curation with the following words on 26th of June on their digital platforms:

“From the delicate beauty of Bhagat to the abstract modernism of Van Cleef & Arpel, or the innovation of Hemmerle – jewelry of this calibre deserves to be seen as art and at TEFAF, it is.  The stones of Boghossian become a language rather than currency and gold in the hands of Daniel Brush takes on profound meaning. Collectors can learn from each piece.  I hope you enjoy my top picks.  The intersection of art and jewelry is a magical place.”
