Styling
Transparent aluminium speakers from the Conran Shop are the height of modern interior design and we wanted to rough them up a bit so decided to go for a Memento mori theme using skulls, brass goblets, antique books, candles and Caravaggio style fruit. Our prop stylist Elena Horn arrived with a van load of curiosities and mid shoot we went plant shopping settling on some triffid type flowers which no-one actually had ever seen before.
It was a difficult shot to perfect with the smoke, mood and tone. Taking props in and out, moving then an inch here and there. We kept going by eating enormous amounts of watermelon saved from a previous shoot and finally many hours later called it a day. I really like this shot for its atmosphere. The blend of sinister olde-worlde mystique with modernist twist make me feel like I’m in a scene of Game of Thrones.
