These titanium, sapphire and diamond earrings floored me when I first saw them in the hands of talented designer Fabio Salini. The scale, the abstract design and the weight – they were feather light – meant that I had to have them and also this coloured stone necklace in our annual jewellery supplement. There was one problem; Vogue also wanted to photograph them so in Paris, during Couture I found myself wrangling with the PR’s to book them in for their London debut. Vogue and I both shot them in the end but they didn’t feature them and I ran them as a cover. The concept being that Minna our model was a statue and the earrings part of her battle ready armour. Kamanza, on hair and makeup is a specialist in body painting and Martin Morrell captured the mood beautifully.
