Styling / Art Direction
Titanium is one of the new industrial materials that designers have incorporated into high jewellery because it doesn’t corrode or cause allergic reactions and it is light and strong, enabling large sculptural pieces to float around the ears and throat. Many of the new wave of jewellers coming out of Asia have used the metal to stunning affect, peppered with stones its petrol like colours appeal to cultures where colour is key.
In this shoot I called in an embarrassment of treasures. From Wallace Chan to Cindy Chao, many came with body guards and strict time slots and our gorgeous model Joanna Dias gamely kept up with the sprightly pace set by husband and wife team Sandrine & Michael. Even the studio cat got in on the act, trying to sit in on the shoot but in the end our red on red set yielded a fantastic selection of minimal but colour drenched shots which were nominated for an award in America as I recall.
