Diamonds are getting bigger, partly because the methods of extracting them have improved and partly because of our obsession with size in the market.  I took great relish in borrowing a selection of whoppers from stone specialists on Bond Street who sell the biggest and most famous diamonds – namely Graff, Moussaeiff, David Morris and Harry Winston.

Photographer Omer Knaz had the genius idea of combining them with huge chucks of tourmaline which resembled coal in the final images for a bold contrast.  Shooting stones this flawless yet intense takes real skill and Omer is an expert as every facet has to be coaxed into focus.  My sense of perspective when it comes to jewellery is now firmly in fantasy land.
